Free the scrotum!

Ralph Ritoch

As an immigrant to the Philippines from the United States I’m in no position to stand up and show myself for the world to see, but what if I did?  It is no secret that at home I’m often naked, mostly due to the fact that after 6 years being here I still can’t adjust to this non-stop 100 degree plus heat.  The most basic thing to learn about nudism, that few people are willing to talk about, is that it isn’t about sex, it is about of comfort.  I’m happy to see that normal, older, and overweight women are becoming liberated enough to show their bodies.  I wish my own wife was that comfortable with her own body.  Sure the Sunday-christians are mumbling under their breath, but not a single one of them look at the fact that Adam and Eve sinned by hiding their naked bodies from GOD. To many Christians who’ve been brainwashed into thinking there is something wrong with nudity or sex; it is simply inconvenient that we’re born naked, and that the human race can’t survive without sex.  If they had their way everyone would be “born” in a factory where the vital ingredients for inception were farmed from humans like cattle, and where no one ever sees the process.

Do I believe the rumors that Jesus had a wife? I honestly don’t know.  It is interesting to think about. Early priests were often married, and I suspect the church did away with allowing priests to marry in an effort to keep sexual deviants away from the priesthood.  I don’t have any evidence to support that claim, but it is the only reason that intuitively makes sense. Other than the fact that the church would be pressured into allowing priests to marry, finding out Jesus had sex with his own wife wouldn’t fundamentally change anything about Christianity.  In my opinion, Jesus didn’t fully answer the question if it is better to be celibate or married. His response amounted to the fact that some people are incapable of remaining celibate but doesn’t specifically identify one way as better than the other.

What is fundamentally wrong about everyone being naked in public? This is the real question we should be asking ourselves, and there are some very real answers. The first answer I can come up with is illness.  Let’s face it, cleaning up someone’s vomit is hard enough, but when it comes to cleaning up other illness related body waste there’s a valid complaint. Being naked seemingly increases the speed at which STD’s can spread which is the medical basis for not allowing nudity. Scientifically it would put more pressure on our  species to eradicate the illness, either by our own immune systems learning to stop STD’s or with the help of modern medicine.  At a fundamental level the problem isn’t if the body can be seen, you can’t catch an illness by looking, you can only catch an illness by touching or breathing in a contagion. Wearing transparent clothing with good oxygen flow to approximate the feeling of being naked while preventing direct exposure to body fluids solves nearly every health related issue to nudity.

So what is the problem if someone sees me naked?  The duality of this issue in the Philippines is quite awkward. On many occasions I’ve witnessed men peeing on the side of the road and women walking around topless or simply completely naked and barefoot.  This demonstrates that the Filipino people themselves are actually much more enlightened than their government.  The government on the other hand seems to treat any kind of published nudity as porn. While seeing people naked in public is initially shocking, it is quite natural to just look the other way.  I’m quite sure those women who walk around naked are much more appealing when they’re fresh out of the shower, but there’s nothing sexual or even remotely appealing about a naked woman covered in a few hours of sweat and dust. If I  don’t want to look I don’t have to.

It is the government’s responsibility to protect us, even if from ourselves. I don’t see any reason the government should stop anyone from showing their naked bodies as long as “sanitation” requirements are met.  In respect for the country which has welcomed me, I’ll honor their wishes and keep my naked-ass off the internet but every human on earth has one. Nearly half of them have a scrotum. Women shouldn’t be alone in the fight to venerate the human body, as men we should be standing up for our right to be human. Let us free the scrotum!

Just to Clarify, I’m not saying everyone needs to show their bodies publicly, what I’m saying is that everyone should have the freedom to show their bodies! It is truly sad that so many people are ashamed of their own bodies and it isn’t normal or sane, it is caused by false-ideas being forced on us at a very young age. If we stop with all the lies it would almost certainly cut down on the amount of sexual crime and human trafficking taking place in today’s society!
